WPFolio User Showcase

Everyone uses and modifies WPFolio a little differently. Here’s some examples of user sites.  Click on the thumbnails to see the larger images and see the lightbox plugin in action.  Submit yours through the comments or by logging in and editing this page.

Note: if you plan on modifying the WPFolio code, consider using a child theme. Also, if you have any brilliant changes, let us know so we can merge them into the official releases.

Hi! I struggled for a while on trying to decide on html or wordpress for my site and then what theme/template to use. When I found your theme I loved it. Thank you so much! I am just starting out with freelance graphic design and it would really be great if you could add my site to this page.

I’ve just launched a new combination blog-store using WPFolio, which I think is an excellent piece of design (in fact I mentioned it specifically in one of my earliest posts). The site is still a work in progress, but I have some suggestions for future iterations of WPFolio.

#1. I’m using a splash home page even though I’d much rather make my blog (“latest”) my landing page. This is because when I set the “latest” to be my home, all the post titles disappear, leaving just a concatenation of entries that are hard to tell apart.

#2. I’d like to be able to opt for sidebars on my “category” pages, since that is the logical area for things like shopping carts, search bars, etc. As far as I can tell, one only gets the sidebar on “blog” style pages. So for “category” pages the shopping cart sits at the bottom, which is far from ideal.

I’m guessing there may be work-arounds for these issues, but since I don’t code in php I have no idea what they might be.

Anyway, great work & many thanks for *the first excellent WP theme I’ve ever seen* that wasn’t a custom build.

      Thanks Antoinette.
Re: #1 When you update to 1.6 you might like the format of the category pages better. We’re close to an official release on WordPress with that.
Re: #2 There is a workaround for that. Although I would have to dig into it a bit to tell you how to do it specifically. What I would do is wait ’til you’ve upgraded to 1.6, use a child theme to keep your modifications separate, and maybe start exploring the code and trying changes. If you’re not up for that, you can hire someone. Maybe try WPQuestions.com or finding someone. And once you’ve done it, please share how!

Thanks, Steve. I do plan to upgrade when 1.6 is outta beta, and I’ll probably at least experiment with a child theme.

Meanwhile, another question has cropped up. When I add “Archives” to my Widgets, it will show the proper number of posts for each past month (e.g. 20 in August), but when I click on the “August” link it only pops up those posts that are *not* tagged in my “latest” (blog) category. Is there a way to fix this so that the Archive can be used to navigate through all the past blog posts?

Are there any gallery sites running off of wpfolio?

I don’t know for sure. We don’t have a list of everyone who is using, it only the people who have told us. There certainly could be as it would work well.

I stumbled upon your theme while trying to find a good alternative to css/html and flash website. I loved it! It is perfect for my needs and with a few plugins and some minor changes to the css I was able to get damn near to what I want. SO great work!

    Steve – Hi

regret to tell you the Colorbox Ajax showcase is broken.

Colorbox does what it should to open the window derived from any links BUT when direction arrows or image are clicked the image dumps. window shrinks, similar to HBO closing graphic, then locks up as an elongated bar.

Clicking out of the window releases it. 8-|

    Hi, Steve;
    Thanks for a great theme!
I found wpfolio while looking for a minimalist theme…ignorant about child themes, so wound up hacking it to suit my purposes:)

    Best of Success,

Thanks for a great theme, used it for a recent update of my site with only slight modifications (nothing exciting), and recommending it to my students as well.
